Nardwuar has returned. The earth is healing, we are the virus. The human serviette is back with his debut isolation-interview, and my god have we missed his contagious and chaotic energy. The Canadian icon sat down with hardcore legend Ian MacKaye for an hour to discuss all things D.C. punk history, skateboarding, the late Darby Crash of Germs, fanzines, and the postponed debut release of his MacKaye’s latest project, Coriky.
Coriky is a meeting of the minds between MacKaye, Joe Lally and Amy Farina. The trio were set to drop their debut, self-titled album on March 27th. As fate would have it the country went into coronavirus lockdown the week prior, and the album release was consequently delayed.
“Since we didn’t have any tours or shows planned around it, it’s not that big of a deal. There’s no time frame really for us,” MacKaye shared of the albums delay. “The biggest concern for me at the moment is people pre-ordered the record… But I think that it’s the right thing to do in terms of supporting independent stores and distributors. And I hope that people have a sense of patience as we figure out what next to do… This is just a stupid record we’re talking about, it’s not the end of the world.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the pair were joined by guest DJ Roger Allen. You can watch it below.
