Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, former Guns N’ Roses guitarist has stated in an interview that the current global pandemic reminds us that “this is not our world”.
As COVID-19 still has a stronghold on the world, with many countries still in full lockdown, and concerts remaining at a standstill, former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal has spoken out about his thoughts on the pandemic with Sofa King Cool.
Although he hasn’t been apart of the American hard rock outfit since 2014, he’s been a part of progressive metal supergroup Sons Of Apollo, who saw their European tour thwarted by COVID-19.
“We saw how this thing was escalating and the direction it was going and figured out how far can we get, how many shows can we do before we can’t? And things started to get canceled,” the former guitarist noted.
Reflecting back on that moment, Thal went on to say that his experience of being in the midst of Europe when it all broke out, and seeing where it’s taken the world thus far is “a very humbling thing.”
“It’s a reminder that we are all just mere guests in this world. This is not our world. We don’t run it. We are not the supreme beings of it. We are guests, and all Mother Nature has to do is take a look at us and tilt her head a little bit, and we’re gone.”
As the world continues to fight back on a virus that has seen thus far over 3,000,000 cases, as well as over 217,000 deaths, Thal reminds us that we need to keep the bigger picture in mind, and stay true and helpful to those around us, stating:
