Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore has shared a previously unreleased song to Bandcamp. ‘May Daze’ was recorded by Thurston Moore Group, and produced by Paul Epworth.
Apart from Moore, the track features Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, Deb Googe of My Bloody Valentine on bass and James Sedwards on guitar.
Speaking about the track, Moore called May Daze a “soundtrack for our usa sisters + brothers to register as voters today, if you still need to.”
He added that “we can change the world – free all political prisoners – insurrection for common decency – rock n roll consciousness.”
Moore also teased the possibility of more new music, writing “more to come” on Bandcamp.
It isn’t the first time Moore has shared previously unreleased tracks to Bandcamp during the coronavirus pandemic. In April, he shared the track ‘Instant Transcendent Conjecture’, recorded by Thurston Moore Group in 2016.
Moore has also shared two tracks from his post-Sonic Youth outfit, Chelsea Light Moving. The songs, entitled ‘Sunday Stage’ and ‘No Go’ appeared on Bandcamp in March and April respectively.

On the release of Sunday Stage, Moore wrote “It’s Sunday 29 March 2020 and we are all on the same page in our shelters if we are so lucky with food and drink if so blessed and with a loved one or two or three if the gods are really shining – maybe they are – i always feel they are, even in the worst of times.”
“We are fighting for each other hopefully with dignity despite the horror shows abounding in the hospices where brave soldiers save lives as much as they can,” Moore continued.
“We salute you with loud love and raised guitars.”
Moore also participated in The Quarantine Concerts Youtube series in April. He performed a 27-minute solo set on his trademark Fender Jazzmaster.
