Back in 2018, the Swedish icons announced their reunion, ending a 37-year ABBA drought. Benny Andersson revealed that the group are hoping to release new music this year.
“They’re coming,” he shared. “They’re coming this year. I’m guessing after the summer. But I can only guess, because I’m not really sure. But I would think so.
In early 2018 it was revealed that Ulvaeus, Andersson and singers Agnetha Fältskog and Frida Lyngstad had recorded two new songs. The songs even had titles: “I Still Have Faith in You’ and ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’. Unfortunately, our ears are yet to be blessed with the songs.
This world truly needs ABBA to return. We need their ebullient, glimmering, extremely European pop ditties to supplement our escapism from the scary reality we’re all living through. All I want in this life is to don a lurex catsuit and dance around my room as if it’s the only place in the world that exists and to achieve this, I desperately need ABBA’s assistance.
You can find the album packaging below, and revisit ABBA’s iconic Eurovision-winning 1974 performance of Waterloo.
