Psych-lords King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have shared their first new track of 2020, a sprawling 5-minute single called ‘Honey’.
It’s a syrupy sweet track that has transported us away from the doom and gloom of this cold weather and looming lockdown.
The track arrives with a luscious video featuring frontman Stu Mackenzie shredding a microtonal guitar in a number of locations.
“Shot at sunset during the apocalypse with a reeeeeeal long lens,” Mackenzie wrote on Twitter upon the song’s release. “I wrote this song a couple of years ago. It’s nice to have it out in the world.”
The band’s last record, Infest The Rats’ Nest arrived back in 2019. This year, the band have unleashed four live records, including a double album and feature film Chunky Shrapnel, back in April.
Chunky Shrapnel was released with a live-streamed premiere. The 96-minute film was shot from the perspective of the band on stage so you’ll be able to live out your dreams of being part of the King Gizzard clan.
“Chunky Shrapnel was made for the cinema but as both concerts and films are currently outlawed, it feels poetic to release a concert-film digitally right now,” said frontman Stu Mackenzie.

“Get the loudest speakers you’ve got, turn ‘em up and watch Chunky on the biggest telly you can find. Get heaps of snacks and convert your lounge room into a cinema.”
