Randy Blythe condemns political correctness: “get over your fucking self.”

Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe has delved into his opinion on increased political correctness in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The rocker recently featured on The Jasta Show where he explained that he belives musicians and those in the entertainment industry are afraid to stand for anything they care about out of fear that they may be condemned on social media.

“People are having to internally vet any sort of reference to anything they may have come across… It’s, like, what the fuck, man?” he smused. “I mean, obviously, for something important — if you’re going to write an article or support one’s art publicly, or something like that — you need to do some research before you [announce] an endorsement of this person.

“People are so fucked up right now — they’re so soft,” Blythe continued. “And I think there’s a lot of factors contributing to it. I think people are going nuts, because people aren’t working and they’re stuck at home and all that stuff. But I also think there’s this period of uncertainty right now where nobody has any fucking answers — nobody has any fucking answers to this coronavirus thing. And people don’t deal well with uncertainty.

“They don’t like the unpredictable nature of what is going on, and all the different information, so they’re looking for some sort of outlet. And any sort of thing that they can grasp upon to make them feel self-righteous and rage against, it makes them feel better. ‘Okay, I’ve now elevated my moral plane, and I’m in the right — I’m in the right here.’ So people are, like, mad touchy about the stupidest shit. It’s, like, get over your fucking self.”

Last month, Blythe weighed in on the internationally unfurling Black Lives Matter movement, calling the protests a result of “400 years of oppression.”

In an interview with News Lagoon, Randy Blythe revealed that he believes the protests to be “completely understandable”.

“Obviously, right now, with the police brutality, and the killing of George Floyd, anybody who’s seen the video cannot argue with just how abominably fucked up that situation is. I think the length of the video is what makes it so impactful. It’s perhaps one of the most graphic representations of what has been happening for a long time here,” he shared.

“This is not an isolated incident, and it’s not just to do with the police. People will roll their eyes at this, because people don’t like history, but this is not an isolated incident, and this is not a new thing. This is 400 years of oppression. And it’s completely understandable to me why things have reached the point that they have. One hundred percent.”
