Descendents have given President Donald Trump the swan song he deserves with new, cutthroat single, ‘That’s The Breaks.’
The Californian punk legends manage to pack an impressive dose of vitriol into the track, which clocks in at just 42 seconds. “Fucking twit / Crawl back into your hole of hate / You asshole Twitter troll / Caught in a lie again / Small mind, small hands, small everything,” Milo Aukerman barks over the pummeling track.
The searing indictment arrives with one of the most satisfying press releases I’ve ever had the privilege of reading.
“Loser. Big time loser. Delusional loser. SORE loser. The time has come. The time is now. Just go, go, GO. I don’t care how. Donald J. Trump, will you please go now!,” Milo Aukerman shared in a statement, a homage to Dr. Seuss.
“What’s it gonna take? A gazillion dollars? (Oh wait, you already grifted that from supporters)… A get out of jail free card? (Only if our judicial system totally fails us)… A wooden stake through the heart? Whatever we can do to make you go away, we need to do it. And I don’t mean just leave the White House, I mean crawl back into your hole of hate and live out the rest of your life as a nobody. A loser. Because that’s what you are. Worst. President. Ever.”
Whilst one could pose the argument that the Bush administration committed more reprehensible acts of evil than the pea-brained Donald Trump, we recognise that Descendents must have pent up steam built up.
‘That’s The Breaks’ follows the Descendents pre-election politically-fuelled release, Suffrage. Following the 2016 US election, Milo admitted to Brooklyn Vegan that he’s spent most of his career avoiding writing about politics, but reached a threshold upon Trump’s election.

“I’ve spent most of my punk rock life avoiding the temptation to write political songs; it always seemed like politics is the obvious go-to subject of punk and thus not of interest to me,” he said. “Unfortunately, after the 2016 U.S. Presidential election I find myself virtually unable to write songs about anything else.”
