Lorde has broken her social media silence with a new post on her hallowed onion ring review Instagram, @onionringsworldwide.
The account was revived in December for the first time since 2017; it lay dormant for three years after Lorde was unwittingly revealed as the admin behind the madness.
“This reviewer stopped ordering onion rings after her identity was leaked to the press in the great debacle of 2017,” Lorde wrote at the time.
“I’d get a smile and a wink from waitstaff— it got embarrassing, you know? But it occurred to me that some things are too good to let the internet spoil.”
Whilst all the low-serotonin girlies are desperately awaiting a follow-up to Melodrama, we will survive on any scraps of activity Lorde throws our way. Savouring every word of each battered bulb review.
The latest instalment is courtesy of the Hotel Ponsonby in Auckland.
“Yoosh lads back with another ring post…” she wrote. “These were from the Hotel Ponsonby establishment, we’re talking PICKLED onion rings which is a first for this reviewer. I totally vibe the concept— used to eat pickled onions out of the jar as a youngster— however I think if you’re gonna go there, go there, and let acidity rather than sweetness dominate.”

All in all, it must have been a pretty sweet experience as she rated the rings 4/5, which is pretty schmick.

Could this revived social media activity be indicative that Lorde is preparing to come out of hibernation? It’s literally impossible to tell but at this point we’ll grasp on to whatever we can.
