He’s long entertained us with his shenanigans on social media, now it seems John Mayer is soon set to land his very own late-night talk show, as per Variety.

According to the publication, the crooner is in talks with ViacomCBS to solidify a deal with Paramount Plus to host a talk and performance series based on the format of the BBC’s long-running Later with Jools Holland.

The series – reportedly dubbed Later With John Mayer – will apparently feature interviews “in a setting designed to look like an after-hours club for musicians” and would air on Paramount Plus, ViacomCBS’ streaming platform which was relaunched on March 4 of this year.

There are also whispers that Mayer is tapped to have some sort of tie-in with the Grammys, which also airs on CBS.

Mayer is no stranger to taking on hosting duties, with his Instagram Live show Current Mood, which launched in 2018, proving to be a massive hit among fans.

The 45-minute social media talk show regularly includes musical performances and artist interviews, among other skits and segments.

He’s also amassed an impressive 1.1 million followers on TikTok, with his videos raking in more than 140 million views.

The rocker has also previously filled in as guest host on The Late Late Show between Craig Ferguson and James Corden and has showcased his comedic chops alongside Tiffany Haddish and Louis CK at Chappelle Summer Camp.

Obviously, Mayer is also known for his musical accolades, with achievements including Song of the Year for ‘Daughters’ in 2005.

As well as this, he’s also been touring with Dead & Company alongside original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart since 2015.
