Steve Prestwich, drummer for Australian rock n’ roll icons Cold Chisel, has died of a brain tumour. Born in Liverpool, England, his family migrated to Australia in 1971, he joining a band then called Orange in 1973. That band would go on to change their name to Cold Chisel and become one of the most iconic Aussie bands of all time. Despite the fact that you can’t go in to a servo or quiet pub without hearing them, the reason Cold Chisel became so ubiquitous on the radio was because they were collectively such good songwriters. They arguably made Australian music what it is, and Steve Prestwich played an important part. Valé Steve. Deepest sympathies to family, friends and fans from the Tone Deaf crew.
