Jason Aldean and his wife Brittany have released a heartfelt tribute video covering Luke Bryan’s “Drink a Beer” in memory of late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot during a public event at Utah Valley University on 10th September.
The black-and-white video clip, posted with the simple caption “For Charlie” accompanied by a heart emoji, shows the couple performing the poignant ballad from their home. Aldean provides acoustic guitar accompaniment while both he and Brittany take turns delivering the song’s reflective lyrics about loss and remembrance.
“Funny how the good ones go / Too soon, but the good Lord knows / The reasons why I guess,” Aldean sings the opening lines with his wife joining in harmonies throughout.
Written by Brett Beavers and Chris Stapleton, “Drink a Beer” became a significant hit for Bryan in 2014, topping Billboard’s Country Airplay chart for two weeks. The song’s themes of grief and remembrance made it a fitting choice for the Aldeans’ tribute.

The video also includes a photograph of the couple attending Kirk’s memorial service on September 21st in Glendale, Arizona. The service featured several high-profile speakers, including President Donald Trump.
This musical tribute represents the second public remembrance Aldean has made for Kirk following his death. At his Detroit concert the day after the shooting, Aldean paused his performance to deliver a two-minute speech honouring his late activist. During the address, he described Kirk as “an amazing person” and “one of the best people ever,” according to the Detroit Free Press.
Kirk served as co-founder of Turning Point USA, an organisation established to promote conservative values across university campuses throughout the United States. His death has prompted numerous musical tributes from artists within the country music community.
The Aldeans’ cover joins a growing collection of tribute songs that have emerged following Kirk’s passing.
