Poor old George Michael. Not only has the been doing a lot of Careless Whisper-driving over the last few years, often while under the influence of drugs, he now professes to be sorry for it all. To top it all off, reports suggest that his partner of 15 years, Kenny Goss, has finally woken up to his senses and decided to go go.
In an interview with BBC Radio, the 47 year old former Wham star said he was “ashamed” over his conviction and jailing for drug driving and that “This was a hugely shameful thing to have done repeatedly. So karmically I felt like I had a bill to pay. I went to prison, I paid my bill.”
He was rather philosophical about the initial part of his jail sentence which was spent in London’s Victorian era Pentonville Prison. “Remarkably enough, I know people must think it was a really horrific experience – it’s so much easier to take any form of punishment if you believe you actually deserve it, and I did,” he added.
However, in a further blow to the star, London’s occasionally reliable tabloid The Sun claims that his long term partner has finally tired of his lewd conduct on the likes of Hampstead Heath and in Los Angeles public toilets, as well as frolicking with mystery men in Sydney, where he recently bought himself a home on the city’s exclusive Northern Beaches.
According to the tabloid rag’s ever constant stream of unnamed ‘friends’, “The writing has been on the wall for some time. There are only so many second chances Kenny was prepared to give. He’s been loyal to George from day one, but that hasn’t always been reciprocated. Kenny runs an incredibly successful gallery.
With Kenny in the US, they spend so much time apart – and that’s got worse over the last couple of years. It’s really sad, but hopefully this could be the wake-up call George needs.” Or quite possibly a trip to Sydney to go out on a rebound bender along Oxford Street.
