Rock n’ Roll legend Bob Dylan is about to head down under to play at Bluesfest in Australia at the end of April, but he’s going to be busy brushing up on his chopsticks skills doing a few dates in China on the way over. Alas, despite the fact that he’s one of the elder statesmen of rock n’ roll and has produced arguably one of the best music catalogues of all time, the Communist Party wants to censor his performances.
Despite writing songs like ‘Blowing In The Wind’, ‘Like A Rolling Stone’ and ‘Hurricane’, the Politburo want Bob to play songs that the Party won’t feel are insurrectionary or will cause revolution. He blew out several Chinese dates last year after the Communist country’s Ministry of Culture denied him a visa, but this time they’ve cleared him for the performances. However, they’re checking his set list and say that his songs must “not to hurt the feelings of the Chinese people”.
