Kitchen Knife Wife haven’t been the most prolific live band since forming in 2008, although that said, they did get taken on tour in Europe by The Wombats shortly after forming and there are certainly synergies between the two bands when it comes to releasing eminently danceable guitar pop tunes. ‘Happy’ is the perfect slice of summer pop, with soaring vocals, guitar crescendos and more than enough bounce in its step to become more infectious on each listen.

Drawing some obvious influences from The Beatles, it also dips its lid to Teenage Fanclub and even the sunnier moments of The Replacements in its effervescent enthusiasm. It’s close to perfect pop and with a bit of love from the powers that be at Triple J, it could just be the pop soundtrack to the Summer.
