Are ticket sales for Parklife struggling? The dance oriented indie festival, which kicks off next month, has today announced on Facebook that there won’t be any sideshows for the event. Telling fans “We’ve been asked this question a lot recently – so to clear up any rumours, no there won’t be sideshows for Parklife artists,” it a that promoters won’t be giving fans the opportunity to see some of the acts in more intimate venues.
Sideshows are usually a way of promoters making extra income to offset the huge costs in putting on a travelling festival, but if a festival hasn’t sold out, it can be a disincentive for fans to buy a ticket to the main event. With the recent cancellation of the Soundwave Revolution festival and waves of fear running through promoters who wonder whether their events this summer will struggle to attract enough punters to break even, let alone make a profit, it appears that a number of festivals will not be releasing their artists to pay sideshows this summer.
Headlined by Lykke Li , Santogold, DFA 1979 and Gossip, fans will also be getting down to the sounds of The Streets, Digitalism, MSTRKRFT, Mylo, Sebastian and Little Dragon amongst many others.
