Amy Winehouse had no traces of illegal drugs in her system when she died according to an official toxicology report. However, the reasons for her mysterious death are yet to be explained.
A spokesperson for her family said in a statement “Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death. The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October.”
The test results indicated the presence of alcohol in her body, although they don’t stipulate what quantities. Speculation as to the cause of her death has suggested that it may have been alcohol withdrawal that prompted her death while other reports have suggested that she had consumed hard drugs the night before her death, although the toxicology results would suggest otherwise.
Her father Mitch, in a eulogy at her funeral on the 26th of July said she had recently told him “Dad I’ve had enough of drinking, I can’t stand the look on your and the family’s faces anymore.”
Winehouse died in her London home on July 23rd, with an initial post-mortem unable to pinpoint a cause of death. An investigation in to the exact cause of her death is set to begin in October.
