What’s that they say about 15 minutes of fame? Hipster gods Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, whose behaviour and lyrics have garnered wide media attention in 2011, are set to receive 15 minutes every week as they invade our living rooms with a regular TV series based on the group to be aired on Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network.
The live-action series, entitled Loiter Squad, will be a live-action show that features sketches, man on the street segments, pranks and music from the band. The cast, featuring the Los Angeles collective of rappers, artists, and skateboarders, channel their multi-faceted creative talents in this off-the-wall showcase.
This announcement comes on the heels of Tyler, The Creator’s “Best New Artist” win at the 2011 Video Music Awards. Tyler’s Goblin LP has sold more than 100,000 copies and his Yonkers video has been viewed more than 22 million times.
Loiter Squad is being produced by Dickhouse Entertainment, the bizarre production partnership of Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze who have been the creative power behind Jackass, Nitro Circus, Rob & Big, Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory, Wild Wonderful Whites of West Virginia, The Birth of Big Air and Wildboyz.
In a kind of bizarre way Odd Future and Jackass seem like a good fit together, however we’ll hold our judgement until we actually see the show.
