Last night New Yorkers we’re treated to what could easily be called one of the biggest concert events this century. Metal’s Big 4, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax, put aside their difference and performed back to back to a sold out audience at Yankee Stadium.

There were rumours that Megadeth may have to pull out of the show due to singer Dave Mustaine sustaining a shoulder injury following an incident on the recent Mayhem Festival tour.

TV presenter Eddie Trunk had tweeted “Big news circulating about Big 4 Wed. Stand by for an official announcement.” However he later updated “Megadeth IS scheduled to play tomorrow at Big 4. Apparently there was some concern over a back issue with Mustaine but they are on as of now.”

The biggest surprise of the evening however was that at the end of Metallica’s epic 2 hour set they were joined on stage by Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax to perform an astounding rendition of Motörhead classic ‘Overkill’.
