The New Musical Express’ desperate attempts to remain relevant continued yesterday with the announcement of the winners of the Shockwaves NME Awards at a no doubt cocaine and booze fuelled ceremony at the Brixton Academy in London. The ‘Let’s Attract a Big Name Who Is About To Release a Record And Wants The Publicity’ Godlike Genius Award went to Dave Grohl in his Foo Fighters guise, while Muse won Best Band. Unsurprisingly, Arcade Fire added to their swag of awards for The Suburbs with Best Album, while Foals picked up the best single gong for ‘Spanish Sahara’. Check out all the winners here:
