Someone has been listening to your prayers, heavy music fans, because Welsh four-piece Bullet For My Valentine, fresh from annihilating crowds on the US Warped Tour, have announced a tour with special guests Atreyu and Cane Hill.

Having previously touched down on our shores for Soundwave Festival, the Kerrang! and Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award-winning Bullet For My Valentine are no strangers to their Aussie fans and will be riding high on the success of 2015’s Venom.

To celebrate their visit we went back a looked their impressive output from the past decade so old fans can refresh and new ones can get educated.

The Poison (2005)

Label: Trustkill, Visible Noise
Clocking in at just under one hour, The Poison the band’s debut full length received a mixed reception from critics upon release, though in many Bullet for My Valentine fans circles it’s still widely regarded as the band’s strongest effort to date.

Carrying a pop undertone throughout the record – most notably with singles ‘4 Words (To Choke Upon)’ and ‘All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)’ – vocalist Matt Tuck’s songwriting saw The Poison set the Welsh crew up to become one of the most progressive and arguably accessible metalcore acts of the 2000s.

Key track: ‘All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)’

Scream Aim Fire (2008)

Label: Jive
One of the most impressive feats of the BFMV’s sophomore record Scream Aim Fire is the fact that since its release the record has sold over 1 million copies worldwide, with 50% of those copies being sold in the US alone!

Transitioning from traditional metalcore stylings of the band’s debut Scream Aim Fire, the LP saw the band explore their thrash metal capabilities. The most notable song off this effort would be the band’s unlikely ballad (and non-single) ‘Say Goodnight’ which vocalist Matt Tuck has been quoted as claiming that it’s still so many years after its release one of his favourite songs to perform live.

Key track: ‘Say Goodnight’

Fever (2010)

Label: Jive
Written shortly after the release of Scream Aim Fire, Fever saw the band push their genre boundaries once again moving away from thrash metal to focus on penning more classically considered ‘metal’ songs.

Never ones to stick to a prescribed genre, Fever featured the standout track ‘Bittersweet Memories’ which musically and lyrically played into the band’s emo sensibilities which hadn’t been previously fully realised.

Unlike the albums that came before, the band’s songwriter (and vocalist) Tuck wrote the lyrics for the tracks on this LP at the same time as the music, on Scream Aim Fire and The Poison the music has been written before lyrics were penned.

Key track: ‘Bittersweet Memories’

Temper Temper (2013)

Label: RCA
This release was the last effort with the band’s bass player Jason James, though not an originally founding member, James played on all of the band’s previous LPs both as bass player but also at times as the vocalist.

Overall the reception to this album was mix but teetering on the more negative side, the band’s inability to really ‘lift’ the songs to reach their full potential and the clean recording and production of the record didn’t sit too well with critics.

Key track: ‘Temper Temper’

Venom (2015)

Label: RCA
The latest studio effort from the Welsh metalcore crew was released late last year. This record saw Jamie Mathias replace bass player Jason James as the band went back and referenced their previous LPs Scream Aim Fire and The Poison to produce a much more thrash metal influenced album.

Many consider Venom to be the band’s heaviest effort, throughout the record the band left their hooky choruses to the wayside to focus on producing guitar driven thrash metal.

Key track: ‘Army of Noise’
