Queen frontman Adam Lambert has claimed he “knows nothing about” a rumoured new album from the band, following comments made by Brian May.

Last week, the world of music found itself somewhat excited about the prospect of new Queen music, after guitarist Brian May seemingly announced a new record via Instagram.

Sharing a couple of photos of himself, May posted a lengthy message before addressing the quality of the pictures that he used.

“These images are a little soft,” he began, “it’s because I took them from a video message I made for an ad – which you might see later – for an album – to be announced later !!”

Understandably, fans found themselves rather excited about this prospect. While Queen have performed with both Paul Rogers and Adam Lambert since the passing of Freddie Mercury in 1991, they haven’t released a new album since 1995’s Made In Heaven, which featured pre-recorded vocals by Mercury.

However, in a new interview with Sirius XM Volume’s Debatable (via Blabbermouth), Queen frontman Adam Lambert explained that he has no news about a new album from the group.

“I saw a news story about that,” Lambert explained. “I know nothing about it. And also the word ‘album’ could mean a photo album, ’cause he has lots of little projects he’s working on… I don’t know what it means, actually. I haven’t asked him.

“News to me,” Lambert added, noting he only saw the headline about the post. “I haven’t talked to him about it yet. I have to ask, actually. I should text him: ‘What album?'”

While there’s no news as to when – or if – Queen will release a new album, the band will however return to Australia early next year for their first tour of the country since 2018.
