Kat Katz, the vocalist of US grindcore band Agoraphobic Nosebleed, has quit the band, citing bullying within the group as her reason.

Forming back in 1994, Agoraphobic Nosebleed quickly became one of the most prominent members of the US grindcore scene. With fast, frenetic songs, the group’s fury and ferocity was well and truly on display with each and every release.

Back in 2007 though, the group welcomed former Salome member Kat Katz into the fold, with her immensely powerful voice taking centre stage in each of the group’s new tunes.

However, it seems as though Agoraphobic Nosebleed are now without a vocalist once again, with Katz citing “bullying” as the reason for her departure.

Taking to Facebook earlier today, Kat Katz made her exit from the group quite clear.

“Tired of being bullied by dudes. Salome and now Agoraphobic Nosebleed,” she began. “I quit Agoraphobic Nosebleed tonight. Hopefully, I find a band that respects me and treats me as an equal.”

The Agoraphobic Nosebleed Facebook page confirmed the news just hours later. “We’ve had some disagreements with Kat about how we should interact in the band, and as a result she quit,” they explained. “We wish her well with music in the future.”

“Scott has some writing and recording to wrap up with Pig Destroyer, and after that he’ll start writing music for the next ANb record.”

While it’s been a couple of years since Agoraphobic Nosebleed’s last release, Kat Katz recently appeared on the latest record by Pig Destroyer, who share a handful of members with her now-former band.

At this stage, it’s not clear what the future holds for Kat Katz, but we wish her all the best in her endeavours to find a band that treats her with equality.
