The Plot 2013 lineup has been announced, with the full list of bands and artists playing the brand new dance and electronic music festival from Cattleyard Promotions – the team behind Groovin The Moo. Along with a series of of live acts, Alison Wonderland will be spinning some great tunes! Check out the Q & A and the full lineup below.

Has there been a particular set this year you’ve played that has really stood out against all others?
Yep. Just before the arias I played a small showcase of my original music, with some live elements. It meant a lot to me and it was the first time I’ve ever done that.

What has been the most exciting set you’ve caught this year by another artist?
Probably when I saw Ratking at Glasslands in NYC earlier this year. They are amazing and the vibe there was awesome.

When you were getting started, was there one particular set you’d seen that really said ‘this is what I want to do’?
It wasn’t really watching a set, it was more the first time I ever played. I was playing bass in a band and when I got off stage, the rush I got kept me awake for 2 days… Without drugs. There were probably only 80 people there, but I knew after, that this was what I wanted to do forever and always.

You’ve toured in smaller towns around the country too which is great, how do you find the reception of the smaller towns as opposed to major cities?
Amazing. People tend to be quite patronising with smaller towns, but sometimes I find that they care more about the music than some of the larger towns.

You’re down to play sets for the brand spanking ‘The Plot’ party this summer. What was your reaction when you were added to the bill?
I was stoked. I love a lot of the artists on there dearly. Not only on a musical level, but also on a personal level. They are all amazing people and they give me hope for the state of music :)

Is there anyone else in particular on the line-up that you’re excited to check out?
I’ve seen most of the acts before… Please don’t make me choose one!

The media has mentioned that those on the line-up are “Flume approved” artists that the man is excited to work with. How important do you think Flume’s success has been to the Australian dance scene?
I’ve notice that since his success, Australians are way more supportive of their own music industry. More than I have ever seen before. Makes me happy

You’re also set for Sydney’s ‘Field Day’, will this be your first performance at the New Years Party?
Nope. I’ve played Field Day a couple of times before. I love it – one of my favourite places to be

That Field Day line-up has some pretty huge names, anyone you’re going to try and sneak a peek at there?
ASAP AND WIZ AND SOLANGE AND JULIO BASHMORE

For a bit of fun, if you could host your own ‘Field Day’ what three artists would you have headlining the bill?
The Knife, Outkast and Prince

If you could pick one other artist to collaborate with, who would it be and why?
James Murphy. He is just amazing and is all about loving music.

What does 2014 have in store for Alison Wonderland?
My own music… Which gives me both anxiety and excitement
