While we love every Like A Version unconditionally (after all, it’s an Australian music institution), there’s nothing better than when an artists, or in this case a pair of artists, come in and totally make a track their own, making it almost indistinguishable from the original.

Case in point, Tassie-born singer and former Triple J Unearthed High competition winner Asta recently hit up the Triple J studio with her buddy, Adelaide rap favourite Allday, to take on Whitney Houston’s 1987 classic ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)’.

The duo gave the pop hit a much more sombre and minimal arrangement, characterised by ethereal guitar work and keyboards and paired with Asta’s sublime vocals and some heartfelt original verses from Allday. You can check it out below and we promise, it’ll blow your mind.

Moments before they made their mark on Like A Version, the duo kicked off their time in the Triple J studio with their collaboration ‘Dynamite’. The two are set to hit the road together soon, so we might just see more collaborations in the coming months – fingers crossed.
