The dates and venues for St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2016 were announced earlier this week and already Photoshop-happy internet trolls have jumped on the announcement and unveiled yet another fake Laneway lineup poster. But this time around, we must say, it’s a pretty respectable effort.

As FasterLouder reports, the poster touts sets from the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Sleater-Kinney, Deerhunter, and Thundercat, and correctly lists the lineup in alphabetical order, which has been standard practice for Laneway festival since their 2011 instalment.

Unlike that less believable poster we wrote about last month, this one actually features plausible acts that don’t have clashing tours, including the two that have already leaked their spots – Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke and Canadian electronic duo Purity Ring.

More importantly, in addition to having details like the dates and venues and featuring official Laneway artwork, this particular forgery includes presenting partner logos, something that was noticeably missing from last month’s fake poster.

However, as FasterLouder note, the sponsors are actually the poster’s biggest giveaway, only getting two of them right. The genuine Laneway Festival 2016 lineup is set to be announced at 9am AEST Tuesday, 22nd September, so stay tuned to Tone Deaf and we’ll have all the details as soon as they drop.
