If opposites attract, this supergroup are a perfect match; teaming prolific producer/drummer with infamously un-prolific singer/songwriter.
?uestlove is currently serving as the drummer with The Roots as the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and heard some as-yet unreleased tracks of Winehouse’s new material. Her new album has been produced by hip-hop innovator Salaam Remi (who also produced parts of Frank and Back to Black) and ?uestlove has dubbed the new tracks “amazing” in an interview with spinner.com.
However, her run-ins with the law have meant that the pair are presently unable to consumate their professional ties, since the closest Winehouse can to get to the US is Jamaica. Judging by her past experiences, Jamaica ain’t the best place for her to get any work done. Alas, ?uestlove says they have been “Skype-ing the shit out of each other”. Skype is now demanding 15% royalties of all future album sales.
