The Australian Recording Industry Association has jumped in to bed with iTunes to present a series of concerts in the lead up to next month’s ARIA Awards. The snappily titled “iTunes Live: ARIA Awards Concert Series 2010” will be held in Sydney’s Botanic Gardens from November 1st, and will be headlined by John Butler, Washington, Guy Sebastian, Sia and Angus & Julia Stone. Tickets are being distributed via MTV, Video Hits, Nova, MySpace, Facebook and the Sydney Morning Herald, with further cross promotion taking place with Nova FM, MTV and Channel 10. The move is designed to generate interest in the televised ARIA awards, which while often providing unintentional hilarity to viewers with drunk rock stars and music business identities embarrassing themselves, were deemed a massive ratings flop on Channel 9 last year.
