ARIA is facing a $1.1 million lawsuit by a company that claims they have yet to be paid for their marketing and sponsorship services.

Suffering blows in popularity, with viewers of the awards show down from 1.1 million in 2008 to a mere 708,000 this year, the ARIA awards have also been struggling to draw in sponsors and talent. Luckily you can always depend on Robbie Williams in those circumstances.

Despite Three Degrees Marketing claiming they also haven’t been paid their commission on deals with Foster’s and the Victorian government, ARIA chief executive Stephen Peach said to The Age “We’re very confident about our position and very disappointed that it’s come to this”.

In industry talk- it means the gloves are off.
