A$AP Rocky has had his current world tour put on hold, after being arrested by Swedish police in relation to a fight in Stockholm last week.

The last couple of weeks has seen US rapper A$AP Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers) over in Europe as part of a world tour. However, this last week has been marred with controversy after the 30-year-old was arrested over an altercation the streets of Stockholm.

As The New York Times reports, A$AP Rocky went before a Swedish court on Friday where he was deemed a flight risk following his recent arrest.

As a result, the musician will now spend two weeks in detention while Swedish police investigate a fight that occurred in Stockholm on July 2nd, prior to a performance at a festival from A$AP Rocky.

Taking to Instagram last week, A$AP Rocky posted two videos of the incident in question, noting that two unidentified men had followed him and his crew before attacking them.

“So a few drug addicts are not my fans,” the rapper wrote in the caption of his Instagram video. “We don’t know these guys and we didn’t want trouble, they followed us for 4 blocks, and they were slapping girls’ butts who passed, give me a break.”

Another video shows the men attacking the rapper’s security, before he addresses the camera and notes that “we don’t want no problems with these boys, they keep following us.”

However, another video – acquired by TMZ – shows A$AP Rocky laying hands on one of the men, kicking and punching one of them after they had been thrown to the ground.

Speaking to the Times, A$AP Rocky’s lawyer Henrik Olsson Lilja explained that the rapper’s current detention would be appealed, claiming that “they were attacked and he made use of self-defense.”

“He of course is very disappointed and this is a catastrophe for his tour,” Mr. Olsson Lilja explained. “Of course a world artist like him would come back to Sweden if there is a trial in the summer or fall.”

According to a spokesperson for the Swedish Prosecution Authority, the investigation is currently proceeding under a preliminary charge of assault, meaning that if sufficient evidence was found, then a trial would go ahead.

In related news, A$AP Rocky was recently at the centre of a festival failure, with Belgium’s VestiVille having the plug pulled after the rapper cancelled his performance.

Citing “security and infrastructure concerns”, the entire festival was soon shut down afterwards, with comparisons almost immediately being made to Fyre Festival.

At this stage, it is not clear when A$AP Rocky will be able to continue the remainder of his world tour.
