In case you didn’t catch the memo music festivals on boat are now more prevalent in 2014 than they’ve ever been before.
We’ve been tracking this increasingly popular trend since The Weezer Cruise announced its second journey last year, while the 70,000 Tons Of Metal cruise put on yet another successful edition.
More recently we detailed the ins and outs of the newly announced cruise; Motörhead’s MotörBoat just as we outlined the some of the world’s other music festival cruises in our slideshow a few months back.
Now comes another addition to this increasing stable, although It’s The Ship already stands out as an appealing option for young Aussies because for the first time there is music festival cruise with a decent lineup within relative proximity.
While most seafaring festivals depart from Miami, It’s The Ship will set sail from Singapore and travel across the Malacca Straits to the paradise of Malaysia’s Langkawi, with a host of international electronic acts booked for the journey. Never has a music festival of this kind been so accessible for Australians.
The same responsible for the Future Music Festival Asia lineups have put together a lineup that consists of Lil Jon, CHVRCHES, SBCR, and more as you’ll see below.
The first edition of what they’re touting, as “Asia’s largest festival at sea” will take place from November 21st-25th and we’re betting that by the time it comes round the continent will never have seen a boat party quite like this before.

1. Book Ahead Before It’s Too Late
As we stated above there really hasn’t been a more convenient cruise for Australian’s to attend. Unlike its North American counterparts there are plenty of cheap airfares to Singapore that can be bought if you get onto it quick. The rooms available for booking aren’t too badly priced either. There’s plenty of options depending on how fat your wallet is, the cheapest being around US $568 for a quad share Interior room all the way to $4028 for a Royal suite (balcony included!) for twin share. It’s also worth noting that all bookings also incur an extra $198 fee per person for taxes, port and ticketing fees.

2. All You Need To Know About The Royal Caribbean Cruise Liner
The “Voyager Of The Seas”, as they call it, is a newly refurbished cruise liner that is as luxurious as you’d expect any cruise liner to be. There’s plenty of extra curricular activities on board, which we go into detail below. As you’ll see by the cabin list most vary significantly. You’ll pay more for an ocean view and even more for a balcony. All staterooms have their own TVs and as their FAQ section points out, all rooms contain their own hair dryers.
3. All The Itinerary Information You Need To Know
So how much time will you actually spend on the ship? When do you depart and what day do you get to Langkawi? If you couldn’t have guessed It’s The Ship definitely is not for those prone to sea sickness. Much of the five-day event is spent aboard the ship. The cruise will depart at 10pm on the Friday night and return at 5am on the 25th. On the 23rd the day will be spent on Langkawi from 11.30am-11.30pm while the rest of the time will be spent onboard.
4. What Else Can I Do Onboard Besides The Music?
So so much. There’s barely a moment to even consider boredom while you’re on board. There’s a basketball court, ice skating rink, mini golf course, casino and duty-free shopping. If that wasn’t enough there’s rock climbing, a wave generator, gourmet restaurants, a spa and a gym with yoga classes available. Organisers are currently working on other activities involving artists and while they’re yet to be announced we expect it to be similar to other cruises. That is, panel and artists singing sessions.
5. FAQs You Need The Answers To
There’s a few other things worth knowing as well. Yes there are ATMs onboard. Yes, there are vegetarian and gluten-free options at all meals. Laundry services can be accessed for an additional fee and there is an internet café that is open 24/7. Wireless internet access can be found in certain areas of the ship too. Alcoholic and soft drinks are not included in your cabin fee (like tea, coffee & juices are) and will be charged to a Seapass card, which is pretty much your tab for the cruise. You’ll either have to put down your credit card or pay a $200 deposit for the Seapass card.
