Alright, so we didn’t get the Rage Against the Machine reunion we were hoping for. But Prophets of Rage are actually pretty cool and are playing RATM’s songs anyway. Plus, there may be another, equally mouth-watering reunion on the horizon.

Speaking recently to Alternative Nation, Rage Against the Machine and Prophets of Rage drummer Brad Wilk revealed that there is a “good chance” that Audioslave, which saw RATM’s members sans Zack De La Rocha teaming up with Chris Cornell, could reunite.

“I love Chris Cornell,” said Wilk, “another amazing musician, and a good person. Absolutely, the possibility of us making music together with Chris is always there. I don’t think anyone has any bad feelings towards each other in that band.”

“I think that band had a really good run, and I think that it was time for us to move on, and that’s exactly what happened.” After forming in 2001, following the dissolution of RATM, Audioslave put out three full-length albums and disbanded in 2007.

Wilk’s comments follow similar comments by the Soundgarden frontman late last year. “I think it would be great,” Cornell told Total Guitar when questioned about the possibility of an Audioslave reunion happening in the near future.

“We did a lot of songs, and with the benefit of not having done anything with those guys for so long, I can’t imagine what it would be. It would be a really amazing experience just to get back and work with the same guys again.”

“We were certainly a prolific group of people; we wrote three whole albums in around five years, maybe less. And these were albums that were raw, and we had extra material, and we just never seemed to have trouble ever trying to agree on what would come out of the songs.”

“They were great guys, and I really enjoyed the experience that I had with them, so yeah, I would always be open to doing something.” Here’s hoping both parties find enough free time in their busy schedules real soon.
