There’s music fans and then there’s music fans, and Sam Sidlauskas from St Albans, despite being something of an unsavoury character, cannot be faulted for his absolute dedication to music fandom.
As the Herald Sun reports, Sidlauskas was recently left heartbroken after a judge told him he’d have to give up his ticket to a once-in-a-lifetime concert due to his strict bail conditions. Yes, this happened.
Sidlauskas appeared in Sunshine Magistrates Court on Friday after pleading guilty to various theft charges. He was granted bail until Monday and allowed to continue living in the residence of his grandmother.
However, the chuffed Sidlauskas wasn’t so pleased to be placed under home curfew between 8pm and 7am. “I have tickets to see Helloween tomorrow night, it’s the first time in 32 years that they’ve ever been to Australia,” Sislauskas pleaded.
“It might be on Monday, I’m not sure, what date is the ticket? I will skip it if it means no jail. They’ve never been here, but I did get to see Accept so I’m happy.” However, the judge had little sympathy.
“Bad luck,” magistrate Richard Pithouse said. “I do think it’s unfortunate that it’s been 32 years, it is a pity.” Though it appears Sidlauskas may have got his dates wrong as Helloween are due to play 14th October, not September.

Leading Senior Constable Andrew Dobson told the court that Sidlauskas was out on three counts of police bail when he was seen riding his bicycle in Walter St, St Albans at 1am on Saturday.
Appearing heavily drug affected, Lead Sen-Constable Dobson said a search of Mr Sidlauskas revealed a small white rock substance, believed to be heroin, concealed in foil within his wallet.
Sidlauskas later admitted to possessing the heroin and when asked why he committed an indictable offence while on bail simply replied, “Stupidity.” Let’s hope this super-fan can apply the same passion he has for music to becoming a productive member of society.
