Avenged Sevenfold and Call of Duty have been linked for a while now. The band have been outspoken about their love for the game and have contributed multiple songs to the soundtrack. The relationship has now been taken to the next level.

Avenged Sevenfold frontman and gaming connoisseur M. Shadows has just announced that he’s getting his own playable character in Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4, as part of Operation Apocalypse Z Blackout.

The news was announced during a Treyarch Livestream, which saw M. Shadows discuss that his involvement with the series is a “career highlight”. He also added that Call of Duty helped the band cope with the loss of drummer Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan when he passed away in 2009.

You can check out the first glimpse of M.Shadows in the below trailer, where he is joined by the don Danny Trejo.

Last September Avenged Sevenfold released the Black Reign EP, a record that compiled every song they contributed to Call of Duty: Black Ops.

“We have a very deep relationship with the team at Treyarch,” M. Shadows said. “We’re proud to be part of the family and extremely excited for people to enjoy this next chapter and our contribution to it.”

Avenged Sevenfold haven’t graced Australian shores since Soundwave 2014. However, back in 2017, former Soundwave organiser AJ Maddah noted that the group are definitely keen to bring their live show back to our shores sometime soon.

“They like Australia and do want to tour. They’re not as massive here as they are in U.S/Europe, so it is costly/difficult to tour regularly,” Maddah explained to a fan on Twitter last October.

“They have been talking to Aus promoters and I’m sure we will see them on this tour. I’d love for them to be supporting Metallica.”

As we all know, Metallica opted to take Slipknot on the road instead of A7X, but we’re hoping the band find another way to visit Australian fans very soon.
