Avenged Sevenfold are being hailed as heroes after stopping their recent set in Belgium to come to the aid of a fan who had collapsed in the mosh pit.

While this isn’t the first time we’ve seen huge names put a focus on crowd safety, and stopping their show to ensure that injured fans get the help they need, Avenged Sevenfold have become the latest group to do so, winning the respect of countless other fans in the process.

As Alt Press notes, Avenged Sevenfold were performing at the Graspop Metal Meeting festival in Belgium over the weekend when they noticed something was going on in the crowd. Nearing the end of their set, the group halted their performance of ‘Bat Country’ after it became evident that one fan in the mosh pit was in trouble.

“Someone’s really hurt in there,” stated frontman M. Shadows, stopping the band’s performance, and calling for security. “They’re knocked out cold. You gotta get them out.”

“Don’t touch their neck, let someone professional do it,” Shadows cautioned fans as medical professionals rushed to the aid of the fan, before stating “You guys are one of the best crowds I’ve ever seen,” in response to the crowd’s helpful and respectful actions.

Following a couple of minutes away from the stage, Avenged Sevenfold returned to perform the last two songs of their set to rapturous applause.

“We were all moshing when a boy fell down and a few other persons fell on him,” explained YouTube user Jeff Sternon about the incident in question. “When getting back up, they realized the first boy was laying unconcious on the ground. When Matt says that we were the best crowd at 1:41, it’s because we all spontaneously made room for the medics to come help the boy out.”

Needless to say, this just goes to show that no matter what criticisms are brought against fans of loud and heavy music, they definitely make sure that they look after their own, no matter what.
