AWOLNATION has released a reworked version of their extravagant electro-pop single ‘The Best’. This new version, born in the era of self-isolation, from Berlin to California, features vocals from ‘No Roots’ singer Alice Merton.
Merton’s contribution to the track make for an ultra-vivid slice of bubbling, synthy heaven. The harmony-laden reworking of the track elevates the disquieting anxieties and feelings of insecurities explored that are explored within the lyrics. AWOLNATION’s lyrics are deeply poetic and intensely neurotic, but the sonics are soaring as ever.
“So proud to have [Merton] join me on this song!” shares frontman Aaron Bruno. “I’m glad we found a way to connect even though we are in different parts of the world stuck at home.” Check out the track below.
AWOLNATION are set to drop their new album, Angel Miners & the Lightning Riders, on April 24th. It marks the first full-length album from the band since 2018’s smashing Here Come the Runts. The band rose to the highest echelons of pop stardom in 2011 with the release of their chart-topping, record-breaking earworm ‘Sail’ — the first single off their platinum album Megalithic Symphony.
‘Sail’ reached Diamond certification, and holds the record for the most weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by an independent artist, and the second-longest for any artist.
AWOLNATION have proven time and time again that they are a pop tour de force and Angel Miners & the Lightning Riders is destined to be one of the most rousing listening experiences of 2020.
