Japanese alternative outfit BABYMETAL has joined the NFT craze with a set of limited edition trading cards, available for a limited time.

Not to sound like a blind follower, but if BABYMETAL releases a set of NFT trading cards, we might just consider jumping on the blockchain ride, even if we fully don’t understand what they mean. The music industry has certainly taken to the trend like fish to water, and the Japanese alternative act is the latest act to partake in it.

The kawaii-metal band have announced a limited edition set of NFT trading cards, available for sale only for a limited time in May.

Those interested will, however, need to bring their A-game. The act is releasing only 1000 sets on the WAX blockchain, each with 10 cards that represent “one of ten episodes of the Metal Resistance – the ten chapters of the band that have unfolded since their inception a decade ago.”

Each card, thus, represents one track on the group’s album 10 BABYMETAL YEARS, a collection of highlights collated from their 10-year career and three albums studio albums BABYMETAL (2014),  METAL RESISTANCE (2016),  and  METAL GALAXY (2019).

Each set will also come with an exclusive gold-colored physical vinyl of 10 BABYMETAL YEARS — this vinyl will only be available with the purchase of the NFT trading cards, not separately. Additionally, each NFT set will be minted, or numerated, based on the order number and time of purchase, meaning the first person to buy them gets the enviable #1 position.

The trading sets retail at $100 USD ($129 AUD), and will be on sale at babymetal.cards only for 72 hours (or until they sell out) from May 7th, 1 a.m. AEST.
