It should come as a surprise to no one that Backstreet Boys’ May 2020 tour of Australia and New Zealand has been postponed. The band members have collaborated on a video to announce the postponement, as well as confirming new tour dates for 2021.

“I want to let you know that we were extremely excited to bring our DNA World Tour Down Under,” says Nick Carter. “We were supposed to be coming to see you guys on the DNA World Tour next month,” says AJ McLean. “But unfortunately due to the state of the world right now with COVID-19 and safety first, we have to postpone those dates.”

“We’re going to reschedule for next year, 2021. So by then things should be all good,” says Kevin Richardson, somewhat hopefully. “Until then, stay safe, stay home and we’ll see you guys soon,” says McLean.

Backstreet Boys will now begin the Down Under leg of the DNA tour in Auckland, NZ on April 28, 2021. They’ll arrive at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on May 1. Two dates in both Sydney and Melbourne will follow before the visit finishes up at Perth’s RAC Arena on May 12.

“Hang on to those tickets,” says Howie Dorough in the video. “Because when it’s safe, we’re going to party like never before.”

BSB launched the DNA World Tour in May 2019 in support of their tenth studio album DNA. The boy band completed sold out arena tours of Europe and North America and were midway through the tour’s South American sojourn when coronavirus brought it to an immediate halt in mid-March.
