If you’ve ever made a list of secret gigs you wish you saw, then a recent performance from Beck and Dave Grohl for a backyard fundraiser might just be the newest addition.

Over the last few days, there has been plenty of talk about political fundraisers over in the US, with Willie Nelson recently performing for Texas Senate hopeful Beto O’Rourke. However, if ever there was a fundraising gig you wish you saw, it would definitely have to have been Aftab Pureval’s.

As Alternative Nation reports, Democratic candidate Aftab Pureval held a Swing Left fundraiser in a Los Angeles backyard over the weekend, featuring a few pretty nifty musical guests.

While it’s not quite clear what else the event contained, what is clear is that the event featured a rather special supergroup delivering the tunes.

According to posts on Instagram, the evening’s entertainment consisted of The Bird And The Bee (made up of Inara George and hugely-successful producer Greg Kurstin), with special appearances from Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Nine Inch Nails, Beck), Dave Grohl, and Beck himself.

Footage from the evening shows the supergroup delivering a pretty rousing rendition of Beck’s ‘Where It’s At’, making us all wish we’d received an invite to this intimate gig ahead of time.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Dave Grohl and Beck have made special appearances in recent weeks. In fact, while Beck made a surprise appearance at Phoenix’s Los Angeles gig recently, the Foo Fighters also surprised fans with a pop-up gig following a show by side-project Chevy Metal.

Needless to say, while there appear to be some US politicians with decent music tastes out there, we can only wish that Aussie politics resulted in some amazing concerts such as this.
