Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard has shared a stripped back cover of Minor Threat’s 1981 track ‘Filler’. “I covered this only once at a solo show in D.C. in 2012,” Gibbard shared. “I felt like recording and sharing it today. enjoy! xo Ben.” Listen to the cover below.

Back in March, Ben Gibbard released a record to honour the legacy of late musician and producer Richard Swift. The Swift Sessions featured two tracks from separate recording sessions with Swift. The first track was a cover of The Monkees’ ‘Me & Magdalena’—which Gibbard wrote for the band’s 2016 record, Good Times!— and the second track was a cover of Teenage Fanclub’s ‘The Concept.’

“There are very few people who I would call a genius, and I really believe Richard was one of those people,” Gibbard explained at the time.

In September last year, Death Cab For Cutie released a cover of Frightened Rabbit track ‘My Backwards Walk’ in tribute of late frontman Scott Hutchinson. Gibbard also participated in a Scott Hutchinson tribute evening at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade, alongside Kevin Devine, Julien Baker, The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn, and The National’s Aaron Dessner.
