Now that he’s pushing 30, it must be hard for Ben Kweller to still fit the cutesy little boy lost niche that has girded the loins of many a swooning girl over the last decade or so (and perhaps the odd boy; however he’s grown into a country folk niche with his last album Changing Horses.
The rootsy feel of the music sees him exploring everything from indie rock to nu-county, while also citing influences as diverse as Buddy Holly, Sonic Youth, Pavement, the Beatles and Bob Dylan. Joining him for a lap around Australia this October are The Delta Spirit, who previously toured with Cold War Kids and have had their latest album History From Below produced by Eli Thomson and Bo Koster of My Morning Jacket.
They ply a trade in Americana described as ‘unequivocally southern soul and a heart that has west coast folk written all over it.’
