With a great lineup tasked with returning Big Day Out to its former glory, countless sideshows, the announcement of more arts-based activities (including A Mexican wrestling bar), and a festival food re-boot with chefs from Australia’s best restaurants providing the food as part of Chow Town, punters assumed Big Day Out had revealed everything in their big bag of tricks. Not so, with this morning’s announcement.
MTV Australia has announced the production of a special edition of MTV World Stage at Sydney’s Big Day Out on January 18, marking the first time an installment of the network’s global live music series has been produced in Australia.
MTV World Stage is MTV’s weekly, global live music series seen in over a half-billion households worldwide. Recorded “live” at the most exclusive gigs, world renowned music festivals and unique concert locations from around the world, MTV World Stage is the “front row seat” for music lovers to experience the biggest artists without leaving the comfort of their sofas.
Live performances from of some of the biggest acts appearing at Big Day Out will be showcased during the two one hour specials of MTV World Stage allowing music lovers from around the world the opportunity to experience Australia’s most iconic contemporary music festival.
Local and international premiere dates, additional on-air and online content, on the ground activities and other details of MTV’s activity at Big Day Out will be announced shortly.
