If you were expecting a simple video with simple choreography, you’ve come to the wrong place. Björk doesn’t play those child’s games.

Queen of reinvention and relevancy throughout each decade since the 90s, Björk, has released a video for her song ‘Losss’, after almost two years since releasing the track, which hails from her most recent album, Utopia.

The track, which is produced by futuristic beatmaker and underground prodigy, Arca, was considered one of the more palatable cuts from the artist’s last album, which boldly fuses flute playing with explosive beats, in what was often a hit-or-miss-or-miss affair.

Coming in at 4:44 minutes, which is around two minutes shorter than the actual track, the video incorporates technology to display rather abstract visuals of floating faces. The floral, fairy-like elements of Utopia are of course included, making things even more enchanting to look at.

Enchanting albeit a little creepy.

Underneath the video, Björk gives a description to her creative process behind the visuals. Using typically Björk terms like “digital sensuality”, the artist describes the visuals as being focused around a conversation between an “inner optimist and pessimist”.

This wouldn’t be the first time Björk has focused on light versus dark, which is a recurring theme for the Icelandic icon.

The full video description goes as follows:

“it is time to show you another song visualised by the overwhelmingly talented Tobias Gremmler ….. noone captures digital sensuality like him, elegant and expressive !!!! this is made for the multiple screens of cornucopia and we share it all here on 1 for your laptop screen … we based the visuals on the conversations between our inner optimist and pessimist, when i recorded this i tried to sing in a deeper tone for one of them in the left speaker and a higher optimist in the right. and if you listen on headphones it will match the imagery…..”

Björk is currently touring her Cornucopia tour, which will incorporate the visuals as seen in the video.
