In a surreal turn of events, Russell Lissack’s (of Bloc Party) South African tour was put to an abrupt end when bitten by a lion at an animal sanctuary in Cape Town.

Lissack was on tour with Ash as their fill-in guitarist when the lion became a bit too friendly and sunk its razor sharp teeth into the lean musician. Since Lissack isn’t known for having much meat on him, perhaps the lion just wasn’t a big Bloc Party fan.

But that wasn’t the end of the nightmare- Lissack was sent to a hospital in Cape Town to get stitched up and have a Tetanus booster, even though the hospital had actually been closed due to the deaths of two men suffering from an unidentified virus.

Lissack is now back in the UK with Ash, with a great story about the time he got bitten by a massive pussy in South Africa.
