Set to be held in the virtual world of Minecraft, the ‘Block By Blockwest‘ festival will be headlined by English post punk rockers IDLES and Russian feminist punk rock group Pussy Riot.

Only last week, American Football took the virtual stage in Minecraft as headliners of their ‘Nether Meant’ festival in support of Good360’s COVID-19 relief efforts. Now, they’ve got another festival lined up to keep us entertained and engaged, and it’s being headlined by IDLES and Pussy Riot.

Set to be held on April 25th, the gig will be in benefit of the CDC Foundation, which is raising funds to help a multitude of things that are impacted in the wake of the virus like providing support to vulnerable communities, and providing funding for medical supplies and emergency staff.

The headliners will be supported by numerous bands including British sextet Sports Team, U.S. pop rockers Against The Current.

‘Block By Blockwest’ is, once again, craftily formed by puns by mashing real-world songs or events with the virtual world of Minecraft. Where as their previous COVID-19 benefit concert ‘Nether Meant’ came from American Football’s ‘Never Meant’ spliced with ‘the Nether’, Minecraft‘s own netherworld dimension, ‘Block By Blockwest’ combines the famed South By Southwest concert with what the virtual game is composed of: blocks.

“‘Block By Blockwest’ aims to forge a hub of human connectivity during this time of social distancing through livestream acts, competitive mini-games, a vast art gallery featuring rising fine artists, as well as a handful of other features for the festival goer to explore.”

Since we’ve surely already delved into virtual games to eradicate our boredom, why not hop on to the ‘Block By Blockwest‘ sever in Minecraft on April 25th, and get even more out of the game by seeing some awesome rock, punk, and pop groups perform. Plus, it’s all in the name of charity.
