Bombay Bicycle Club has shared their long-awaited comeback single ‘Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)’. This is the group’s first track in five whole years.

Apparently, when Bombay Bicycle Club said So Long, See You Tomorrow, they meant in five years time, and we’ve been waiting ever since like a war wife at the windows. We still remember how iconic that album was in 2014, from its stunning tracklist to its unforgettable album cover and vinyl packaging.

The London quartet has been on a hiatus for the past five years, with the various band members pursuing their own projects. These include frontman Jack Steadman’s solo work as Mr Jukes and bassist Ed Nash’s band Toothless.

But thankfully the band have returned to the fold, premiering a new track titled ‘Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)’ on BBC Radio 1’s Future Sounds show. Speaking on the new single the band said that the song possesses “one of the best riffs” they have ever written.

“We’re going away next week to finish the rest of our record, so it’ll be out next year,” the band revealed of their plans for their fifth album.

The track (which you can hear below) is definitely a magnificent return to form for the band, as it plods along like a morning sunrise, drenched out vocals coming in like a fresh coffee. The lyrics cut through the heart with ruminations on longing, lust and the kindlings of love, with the chorus repeating the lines “eat, sleep, wake, nothing but you” like a hypnotist’s chant.

“It’s our first single in five years,” the band wrote underneath an Instagram snippet of the song yesterday, “The four of us have had an incredible summer performing again, but we’re feeling particularly excited at the thought of releasing new music. So long, see you tomorrow.”
