Bon Jovi have given fans a sneak peek into the future, revealing the title of their first album since 2016 earlier today.
Back in 2016, Bon Jovi released This House Is Not For Sale. Their 14th studio album, it came just one year after the release of the half studio, half compilation record Burning Bridges, leaving fans to think that this quick turnaround between albums might continue well into the future.
Although it gave them yet another #1 record, fans have been waiting for a follow-up ever since, with the band’s relentless touring tiding diehard supporters over during the interim.
Now, as Variety reports, Bon Jovi are set to release a new record at some point in the near future, with the group’s titular frontman revealing the title during a live set recently.
Speaking at the Runaway to Paradise Mediterranean Cruise on Tuesday night, Jon Bon Jovi revealed that the record would be titled Bon Jovi: 2020.
“It’s an election year, so why not?” the veteran musician explained. “I couldn’t do any worse.”
Featuring some “socially conscious” themes, including some related to mass shootings in America, Bon Jovi explained that he has a “clear vision” for the new album and the band’s future.
“‘This House is Not For Sale’ dealt with personal matters, and now it’s behind us. Now I have clear vision moving forward,” he explained. “I’m very happy with it. It’s a different record.”
Bon Jovi were most recently in the country late last year, with the band performing their first Aussie shows since 2013. While there’s no word yet as to when they might return in support of the new record, you can rest assured that their track record indicates a return visit will be on the cards at some point.
