This week has seen the US titan music festivals Coachella and The Governor’s Ball drop their epic lineups for their 2015, which leaves only a few major US festivals remaining to reveal theirs including the mega Bonnaroo, who have decided to implement quite possibly the most ridiculous method of announcing a festival lineup.
The four-day musical extravaganza of Tennessee is very much trying to show they’re down with the world of technology, deciding that 2015’s lineup will be announced by the public via social media as Consequence Of Sound point out.
Anyone keen to know who is playing at Bonnaroo 2015 are instructed to dial a special phone number (1-844-ROO-2015, US only) where they will be told what artists performing on the bill. From here, Bonnaroo want potential punters to post on their social media accounts (namely Twitter, Instagram and Vine) the artist they were told on the phone and use the Bonnaroo hashtag.

Despite Bonnaroo’s attempts at “doing the Internets”, they’ve obviously forgotten that the online world is laden with trolls who would absolutely eat this absurd social media foray up for breakfast, surely you can imagine the amount of people claiming that David Bowie is making his triumphant return to the stage or that Nirvana will be reformed with a hologram of Kurt Cobain for a special one-off Bonnaroo performance.

Don’t worry, festival organisers have ensure the tiniest bit order, Bonnaroo will repost all the real artists on their website as the hashtags roll in, so basically they’re just causing a lot of effort by fans for a bit of “fun”. Outside of this kinda stupid lineup release, we’re certain Bonnaroo 2015 will be absolutely epic.
The big Bonnaroo “break the internet” fan announced lineup will occur on Tuesday January 13th from 6 pm – 9 pm EST and tickets go on sale Saturday, January 17th at noon EST, click here for all relevant event info.
