Having dominated speakers and headphones with their 2018 sophomore record, Boston Manor are wasting no time getting back at it, releasing a brand new cut today, ‘Liquid’. To get the job done, the band have enlisted the stunning expertise of Australia’s favourite son and Trophy Eyes vocalist John Floreani.
Fans of both acts were put into a mild spin earlier in the month, when Boston Manor tweeted out a photo featuring Floreani. The rumour mill went into overdrive picking up the scent of a potential tour, but now we know the reality is even better: a collaboration immortalised in song.

‘Liquid’ is a sprawling and intricate effort from the Blackpool group, who tapped into some serious Deftones-levels of ambience. Lyrically, the track is just as impressive, sustaining a narrative that explores the multiple versions of ourselves that exist within the minds of everyone we know. Perhaps vocalist Henry Cox can explain it better:
“’Liquid’ is about the idea that there is no one true version of yourself. There is the version you know, but then a version that someone else sees that could be totally different. For every person that knows or even sees you there is an alternate version that exists in their consciousness.”
Floreani and Boston Manor have shared the stage many times in the past with Trophy Eyes, so while the collab isn’t completely left of centre, it doesn’t make it any less spectacular. The new track came in a combo with a stripped back, and refurbished edition of album jam ‘Halo’.
Floreani is prepping to unveil his debut solo album, sin, which hits shelves both digitally and otherwise on Friday, June 7th.
Fans are understandably smitten with the release so far, with me of us finding ourselves at our desks drifting off to his Sunday acoustic performance this Unify Gathering past.
