A new documentary film about the late Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman, Chris Cornell, is on the way. Details surrounding the project have been kept under wraps. There has been no word as to which era of Cornell’s life audiences can expect the film to focus on. It has been confirmed that the documentary will be produced by Cornell’s widow, Vicky, alongside Brad Pitt and Peter Berg. Berg will also serve as director for the as-yet-untitled documentary. Previous Brad Pitt production credits include Moneyball, 12 Years a Slave and The Tree of Life.

Last week, at the 61st Grammy Awards, the children of the late rocker accepted a posthumous Grammy on his behalf. Cornell received a Grammy nod for Best Rock Performance on his song ‘When Bad Does Good’, which was released on his posthumous self-titled compilation album. Upon accepting the award, Cornell’s son Christopher shared:

“I never thought we would be standing here without my dad. I’m sure he would be proud and honoured.

He is known for many things. He was a rock icon, the Godfather of grunge and a creator of a movement, whose contribution to music history made a lasting impact across genres and generations. He was also one of the greatest poets of his time, whose voice [and] soaring unforgettable vocals made him the voice of a generation.”
