Bruce Springsteen has found himself in hot water after a drink driving charge for an incident that took place in New Jersey back in November was made public knowledge.
As TMZ report, Springsteen was arrested on November 14th at the Gateway National Recreation Area on charges for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and consuming alcohol in a closed area.
Daphne Yun, a spokesperson for the National Park Service, told New York Times that “Springsteen was cooperative throughout the process.”
As the arrest took place in a national park, the case will be handled by federal prosecutors. Bruce Springsteen is set to face court later this month, per Matthew Reilly, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney in New Jersey.
News of the arrest comes just days after Springsteen made his TV commercial debut for Jeep, in a controversial ad that campaigned for Unity in America. Springsteen, alongside Ron Aniello, wrote and produced the music for the commercial. Jeep has since pulled the commercial from YouTube — though it is still available to watch via Springsteen’s Instagram account.
“It’s no secret that the middle has been a hard place to get to lately, between red and blue. Between servant and citizen, between our freedom and our fear,” he says in the commercial.
“Now, fear has never been the best of who we are. And as for freedom, it’s not the property of just the fortunate few. It belongs to us all.”

As The Guardian note, Springsteen previously acknowledged his complicated relationship with alcohol in his 2016 autobiography, Born to Run, admitting that he did not try alcohol until he was 22 because of his fathers drinking problem.
“I was afraid of myself, what I might do or what might happen to me,” he wrote. “I’d seen my dad and that was enough for me. Music was going to get me as high as I needed to go.”
Springsteen has yet to make a statement.
